On Friday, May 5th at 7 pm the Core Ensemble (cello, piano, percussion and actor) will perform a music theatre work celebrating Sacagawea, the Shoshone guide and interpreter who braved floods, hunger, storms and snakes while playing a key role in the success of the Lewis and Clark expedition (1804 – 1806) to explore the American West – while carrying her infant son on her back. Actor Nadya Encarnacion tells stories of resourcefulness and courage, wed to music by Native American composers.

Reflecting a new musical exploration taking place at the same time across the Atlantic Ocean, the program will open with a performance of the Beethoven Cello Sonata in A Major, Op. 69. Ludwig van Beethoven flouted convention with a new musical style: Romanticism. Sacagawea and Beethoven are contemporaries from two different worlds who explored new territories, geographic and artistic.

Reception to follow the program. Free and open to all. At St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 100 North Palmway, Lake Worth Beach, FL 33460. FREE AND OPEN TO ALL. Reception to follow the program.
