Dia De Los Muertos at HATCH 1121

Saturday, November 04, 2017, 04:00pm - 09:00pm

Dia De Los Muertos Lake Worth

Presented by LULA Lake Worth Arts and R Dot Photography, Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, is a festive time to honor deceased relatives, satirize the living, and entice the spirits to visit with flower-decked altars and offerings of food. One of South and Central America’s most distinctive holidays, Day of the Dead, is considered a day of cheerful celebration rather than one of mourning.

Seeing that last year’s event was a success, CRA/LULA Staff applied for the State of Florida’s Cultural Affairs Division Specific Project Grant. The Specific Cultural Project grant is designed to fund a cultural project, program, exhibition, or series. The grant activities must support the mission of the organization and further the state's cultural objectives. CRA/LULA Staff were recently notified by the State that the grant request had been awarded in the amount of $14,550 to assist in marketing, promotion and entertainment for the festival.

This November, Lake Worth Arts will present a FREE day of fun for the whole family. Please join us on Saturday, November 4th at 4 pm at the HATCH building located at 1121 Lucerne Avenue. The Day of the Dead celebration will feature traditional foods, folkloric dances, traditional ofrendas, a procession, cultural arts and crafts and children’s activities. Admission and parking to the festival and exhibition are free. For information on the event or on vending opportunities please call 561-493-2550.
