Music Theatre to Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

Zitkala-Sa (Red Bird), one of the most influential Native Americans of the 20th century, was a Yankton Dakota writer, translator, musician, educator and political activist. Born in 1876, she was a reformer who strove to expand opportunities for her people and to safeguard their cultures. The performance includes dramatic scenes from Zitkala-Sa’s life and music by Native American composers. The show will be performed by the Core Ensemble (piano, cello, percussion) who are Artists in Residence at St. Andrew’s, with Nadya Encarnacion, actor. A reception and social hour will follow the program.
