Songwriters' Circle

Friday November 7, 8 pm

Songwriters' Circle features three of south Florida's most prominent acoustic singer-songwriters on stage together, sharing their original work, in the intimate (62-seat) setting of the Stonzek Theater.

Marie Nofsinger moved south from her native Massachusetts in the early 1980s, and for two decades was one of South Florida's busiest performing artists. Since then, she's reduced her annual calendar to occasional "Dark & Stormy Night" themed shows and Suwanee Stringfest, where she's been a headliner for several years. Citing her "stellar new Wildlife Rides Again CD," Palm Beach Pulse wrote: "the disc blends bluegrass and country in sincere, humorous and rootsy ways not often heard since the advent of music video." Catch this rare oppportunity to see Marie Nofsinger in a concert setting.

Rod MacDonald began in Greenwich Village clubs in the 1970s, co-founding the Greenwich Village Folk Festival, before moving to south Florida in 1995. Since then, he's been named "Best Local Acoustic Artist" and one of "Ten Greatest South Florida Folksingers Of All Time" by New Times, and one of "Ten Magnificent Musicians of Palm Beach County" by the Palm Beach Post. He's made 11 cds in the US and Europe and been covered by Dave Van Ronk, Shawn Colvin, Four Bitchin' Babes, Jonathan Edwards, and Garnet Rogers. He also was named 2012 Distinguished Faculty Member in FAU's Lifelong Learning program. His latest cd is Later That Night. As Fort Lauderdale's Labyrinth Café says, "Rod's songs will stay in your heart and mind long after the music has ended.

Amy Carol Webb was named one of South Florida's "Ten Best Folk Singers of All Time" in 2013 by New Times, and "One to watch in the next millennium" by the Miami Herald. Born into a musical family in Oklahoma, channeling the pioneering spirit of her Native American great-grandmothers and her own spiritual search, she's appeared at the Kennedy Center and numerous Florida festivals, where her "liquid vocals sing of a better world - and make it a joyful proposition" (Performing Songwriter). Amy's most recent recording is Moments: Music-Mantra-Music, "inspired by myriad traditions including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity and Indigenous People."
