The Art of Judaica- Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery at 605 Lake Ave.

Thursday, November 15, 2012, 06:00pm - 09:00pm

Hanukah and Judaica is the exhibition theme of Clay, Glass, Metal, and Stone Gallery at the November 15th opening and will go until Sunday, November 18.

Gallery artists Irene Jalowayski and Joyce Brown have always included Judaica as part of their art displayed in the gallery.  Jalowayski fuses brilliant glass pieces into menorahs, mezuzahs and candlesticks, all traditional and seasonal symbols of Judaism.  Brown uses metaphorical images in sculpture to portray the struggles of all peoples against oppression and the joys of the holiday.  Teri Salamoni creates beautiful draidles on her wood lathe. Barbara Keener, Nicklaus Joyce, and Amelia Costa have created wonderful items from traditional plates to Miriam Cups.  Kathleen Kirschner uses her fiber and sewing skills to create Judaic wear and decorative items.  All are one of a kind art. All are affordable holiday gift items.

Appointments are still available for groups wanting to use the event as a fund-raiser. Artists will demonstrate on the potter’s wheel, the wood lathe and glass spinning.  Lectures on the creation of Judaic art are part of the group event.  To arrange a date contact Joyce Brown, 561-588-8344.
