The CRA and the City of Lake Worth’s goal, through the Bicycle Network Plan, is to accommodate current bicycle use and to encourage increased use of bicycling in the future. Hence bicycle planning should be oriented toward meeting the needs of current and potential bicyclists using the roadway system. Eight miles of new bike lanes have been added to aid two-wheeled travel on roads leading north and south from Lake and Lucerne avenues.
Want to hop on your bike but not sure of the best route for your ride? BiKE Palm Beach recently launched a new interactive website to make it easier to plan ahead at palmbeachmpo.org.
Plug in a destination and the interactive map picks your directions based on the shortest route, the fastest, the most scenic or the least interaction with traffic. The site indicates which routes are most suitable for bike riding, and also shows location of bike lanes.
